How does a ski and snowboard service work?

Before every ski and snowboard service, it is important that the material is examined by experts in order to weigh the necessary service steps and to advise you. The cheapest service is of no use if it does not match the material and vice versa. Then your material will be serviced in this order, depending on the type of service: base repair, surface grinding + stone grinding (structure), side edge, Tuning and wax

When repairing the base, damage to the base is filled with a special touch-up material (P-Tex).
Skiservice in Tux/Hintertux - Planschliff
The sliding surface + edge are not always completely flat (= even). However, this is the basis for properly controlling the ski - because precision is the be-all and end-all in ski service. Without surface grinding, for example, no ordinary structural grinding / stone grinding is possible.
Skiservice in Tux/Hintertux - Steinschliff
The stone surface gives the sliding surface structure again. This is essential for optimal sliding properties. In our services we usually grind one cross-staggered structure. In principle, everything that the structural world has to offer is possible on request.

In the standard setting, the side edge of the ski is ground at 88 °. We know from experience that for most skiers this value represents the optimum of edge durability and grip.
Skiservice in Tux/Hintertux - Tuning
When tuning, the edge is processed on the lining side. Due to the face grinding and the side edge grinding, this is now at an 88 ° angle to the side edge. This would immediately edge the ski and make it uncomfortably aggressive. Therefore, the tuning removes the burr on the side edge and changes the angle by 0.5-0.8 ° (Radial tuning). The edge is polished out at the same time. This results in a new total angle of 88.5 to 88.8 °.

The wax ensures that your ski does not stick to the snow, but simply glides. The special properties of ski wax ensure that friction is minimized.
